Job Description
Job Title: Volunteer Hotline Advocate
Purpose: Hotline advocates are trained to staff DCCV's 24-hour
Hotline and offer emotional support, information and referrals to crime victims
in the
Denver area. Hotline advocates connect clients with appropriate resources.
Reports To: Director of Training and Volunteer Services
Responsibilities:
1. Staff the hotline for a minimum of one four-hour shift per week; day and
evening shifts available.
2. Assess immediate victim needs and provide referrals and follow-up services.
3. Document contacts and contributes to statistical reports.
4. Work cooperatively with Denver-area service providers.
5. Attend quarterly in-service training and support meetings.
6. Provide advocacy and support for clients.
7. Any other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: 18 years of age or older; ability to work
shifts; possess open, nonjudgmental attitude toward victims/survivors of crime;
good communication skills; ability
to work well with wide range of people.
Special Requirements: Complete initial training; six-month
commitment to program; background records
check.
Benefits: Advocates will be provided with in-depth and ongoing
training in the dynamics of victimization and will gain direct experience in
providing
support to people in need. Participation will enhance the community responsiveness
to rights of victims and survivors of crime. College and other academic internships
available.
