Volunteer/Internship Opportunities
DCCV is always looking
for caring individuals who want to volunteer in our Hotline,
VAWA Legal Immigration Clinic or The Translation &
Interpreting Center,
and for social work students in related psychology/human
services/nonprofit management
fields
who
desire
a supervised internship
opportunity.
Our legal immigration clinic welcomes law students, legal interns and fellowship
students.
All volunteers and interns attend our 40-hour
training class. Our training
class is held three times a year, in January, May
and September. Volunteer information packets may be requested at any time.

The 40-hour course
covers basic listening and crisis intervention techniques, victimology issues,
the criminal justice system, symptoms of trauma and grief,
resources and related topics. Role plays are
an integral part and are included in the training. This class is
required for both volunteers and interns before working directly
with crime victims.
