Elderly and Disabled Victims

Kinship PictureThe Elder/Disability Program works in cooperation with other DCCV programs to provide crisis intervention and support services to individuals who are disabled and/or 60+ who are victims of crime, from the crisis intervention stage through prosecution and post-trial recovery.

The program provides information and support services that honor and empower the individual following a victimization, encouraging the establishment and maintenance of as much independence as possible; and nurturing personal and community relationships that will support the healing process. DCCV works to ensure that older adults and individuals with disabilities receive access to systems that provide support and assistance, and will encourage older adults and persons with a disability to utilize resources in their communities.

It is vital to DCCV and our clients that these systems support and celebrate cultural diversity and independent living. DCCV believes this program is unique in its holistic approach to trauma recovery and that it fills a gap in services needed for older adults and persons with a disability in the Denver community.

This program also hosts quarterly workshops for Kinship Care Providers.
