12 Men Run for a Cause

Pat Wiley, Craig Troxell, and Jason Sands (left to right) after a training run.

To raise funds for DCCV, board member, Jason Sands, will lead a 12 man team on the Wild West Relay.  This is a 36-hour, 200 mile relay race from Fort Collins to Steamboat Springs, August 3-4, 2012.

The team’s goal is to raise $2400 for DCCV’s Children, Youth and Family program.  The CYF program helps children ages 6-17 understand and cope with trauma while learning healthy options for expressing feelings and conflict resolution.  For more information on specific programs click here for details.

This will be Jason’s 4th race but the first time he has captained a team.  The teams are self supporting, unlike other road races, the race director does not provide sag wagons or food and water stops along the route. Jason is enjoying the challenge of coordinating all the logistics including, van rentals, food/drinks, racing supplies, lodging pre and post-race, and training programs for the team members.

There is a nice mix of experienced and first time participants on the team.  Members are Jason Sands, Adam Sands (1st time Wild West Relay participant), Marc Buffington, Ross Kontz, Mike Enger, Brad Baker, Pat Wiley, Bobby Perry (1st time Wild West Relay participant), Zach Brockman (1st time Wild West Relay participant), Herb Brockman (1st time Wild West Relay participant), David Cohrs, and Jeremy Goett (1st time Wild West Relay participant).

Each team member has pledged a minimum of $200, and along with training for the race they continue to raise pledges.  If you’d like to support 12 Men Run for a Cause and the DCCV, contact Jason Sands at jsands@sm-energy.com to make a contribution.
